Beyond The Kale →

When most people think of “healthy,” they picture what’s on the plate — greens, grains, protein… maybe even kale still. But true nourishment goes far beyond what we eat.

There’s another kind of food that fills us up from the inside — what is called by some your in the health and wellness space your primary foods. These are the things that make you feel alive, grounded, and connected: creativity, home cooking, career, finances, home environment, relationships, joy, health, and movement.

When these areas are out of balance, even the cleanest diet ( greens and all) can feel like it’s missing something. But when they’re in harmony, your body has a way of responding — your energy rises, your mood lifts, and even your digestion seems to work better. That’s the power of whole-body nourishment.

I’ll be honest — this is something I’m always working on, too. Some days flow beautifully, and others feel a bit off-balance. But I’ve learned that it’s the little bits of progress along the way that really add up.

Take a look at the image below and think about your own life. Which “primary foods” feel strong and satisfying right now? And which might be craving a little more attention?

Sometimes, it’s not about cutting anything out — it’s about adding in more of what truly feeds you.

Nourish What Matters Most

Going beyond the kale means remembering that health is multi-dimensional. It’s not just about food choices — it’s about life choices. The way you move, connect, rest, create, and care for yourself all play a part in how you feel every single day.

Whole health isn’t about being perfect; it’s about paying attention. Start small and stay consistent. Maybe this week you carve out time to cook more at home, spend an afternoon in nature, reschedule a few appointments that really are not that critical, call someone you love. Those little moments of “Primary Food” truly add up — and they create the kind of health that lasts.

And since, of course I can’t forget the plate ( or bowl) completely, here’s one of my favorite and purest comfort foods for this season! Never fails!
